My daughter says...

After seeing that I am blogging, my daughter said with disgust in her voice, "Are you blogging?" I told her that I'm required to blog for class. She thought about it and retorted with "blogging is a waste of time."
Hannah is 9 years old.

  1. Ha! Blogging really isn't the domain of the younger set, at least not pure blogging outside of a more structured social network. Hmm. That reminds me that there's a state of the blogosphere report that folks might find interesting. I'll post to the class blog.

  2. For a nine year old, blogging probably is a waste of time. My niece is slightly older and her world of communication is confined to the 160 character text message (and I think most of the messages she sends and receives are less than 20 characters).

  3. My son said to me once when he found out I had a Facebook page that his opinion of me, while good, went up in his mind. Sometimes I think youth feel Web 2.0 is theirs and we're not to tread there .

  4. Blogging requires a more sustained thought process than most teens are comfortable with at that stage in life. Their thoughts and emotions change so rapidly it probably is a waste since by the time they get an entry posted, it is already outdated :-) lol
